Water Works Wedding DJ at Water Works by Cescaphe in Philadelphia
If you’re planning a wedding at Water Works by Cescaphe in Philadelphia, your entertainment needs to match one of the most photographed settings in the city: Neoclassical columns, the Schuylkill River and Boathouse Row, with the Philadelphia Museum of Art rising above. Smooth Event Group provides the wedding DJ, MC and live entertainment that carries the night from a riverside ceremony to a packed dance floor.
Our DJs and MCs plan every Water Works wedding around the Cescaphe format, the space you choose, your timeline and your music, so the formal moments feel elegant and the party feels like a true Philadelphia celebration.

About Water Works by Cescaphe
Water Works by Cescaphe sits at 640 Waterworks Drive on the east bank of the Schuylkill River, at the foot of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and steps from Boathouse Row. The Fairmount Water Works is a National Historic Landmark whose Neoclassical buildings once drew visitors from around the world, and Cescaphe now hosts weddings for roughly 100 to 400 guests across several distinct spaces. The Engine House holds the main ballroom, with espresso-stained hardwood floors, crystal chandeliers and a tented Veranda overlooking the river. The columned Grand Pavilion looks out over the Fairmount Dam, and the Mill House Deck offers a tented riverside reception. Couples can hold ceremonies inside the Engine House, under the Grand Pavilion or at the Gazebo off the Mill House Deck.

What Makes Water Works Unique
Few Philadelphia venues give you this much scenery in one place. Water Works pairs historic columned walkways and a vintage gazebo with sweeping views of the river, Boathouse Row and the Center City skyline, and Cescaphe hosts only one wedding per venue per day, so the property is yours. The setting calls for a DJ who keeps the evening refined during the formal moments and knows exactly when to raise the energy as the sun sets over the river.
Packed Dance Floors at Water Works
We know how to turn a riverside reception into an unforgettable party. From your grand entrance and first dance to the last song of the night, we read the room and build energy naturally, so guests on the dance floor and guests taking in the views stay part of the celebration.

Planning Your Water Works Wedding Entertainment
Cescaphe weddings follow a six-hour format built around a signature hour-and-a-half cocktail hour, with an additional half hour added when your ceremony is on site. That structure is a gift for entertainment planning: we map your introductions, dinner sets, toasts, special dances and open dancing to the venue’s flow so nothing feels rushed.
Each Water Works space has its own sound. Open-air pavilions and tents carry music differently than the Engine House ballroom, and ceremonies by the river need clear, wind-aware microphones. We plan speaker placement for your chosen space so vows and toasts are easy to hear, the dance floor feels full and the room stays comfortable for conversation during dinner.
- Book your DJ early. Popular Saturdays at Cescaphe venues often fill a year or more in advance.
- Share your must-play and do-not-play lists, plus your ceremony and first-dance songs, during your planning meeting.
- Consider uplighting to warm the columns after sunset, or a live sax or violin set for cocktail hour on the Veranda.
- Ask us about a short, high-energy dance set right after dinner to get every generation on the floor.
